Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) reencontra os queridos amigos Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), Queenie Goldstein (Alison Sudol) e Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler). Ele é recrutado pelo seu antigo professor em Hogwarts, Alvo Dumbledore (Jude Law), para enfrentar o terrível bruxo das trevas Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp), que escapou da custódia da MACUSA (Congresso Mágico dos EUA) e reúne seguidores, dividindo o mundo entre seres de magos sangue puro e seres não-mágicos. Os Crimes de Grindelwald é ambientado alguns meses depois do primeiro filme. Newt está fadado a não deixar as terras inglesas por causa da sua pequena bagunça em Nova Iorque. Enquanto isso Grindelwald conquista sua liberdade (de um jeito completamente não samaritano) e começa a reunir seguidores. Alvo (sim, o Dumbledore) pede um favor a Newt – sabemos de qual tipo – e dá a ele recursos para quebrar as regras, típico. Dumbledore sendo Dumbledore, nada de novo por aqui. É claro que Tina, Queenie e Jacob retornam neste segundo filme e aqui está uma dica de graça: Carregue alguns lencinhos pois você provavelmente irá chorar (Não exatamente de tristeza). Agora, vamos para Paris!
Como dito anteriormente, temos a volta de todos os personagens principais e também conhecemos alguns novos como Leta Lestrange e Teseu Scamander. O lado ruim é que nós não temos boas explicações sobre suas vidas antes deste filme, inclusive dos personagens mais antigos. O que aconteceu durante esses meses? Não sabemos. Esse filme conta as coisas de uma forma bastante superficial mas isso é algo que eu vou retornar depois (e algumas várias vezes). Neste longa vamos à França seguindo os passos de um personagem antigo, Credence, agora com uma personagem realmente antiga, Nagini. Sim, ela. Eles estão numa espécie de circo mágico para aberrações. Mas novamente eles têm, novamente, aquele probleminha de um total de zero explicações. O filme inteiro foi tipo “Segura esse personagem, eu vou explicar mais sobre ele/ela depois… Ou não”. Em determinado ponto eu estava me perguntando o que algumas pessoas estavam fazendo lá! Okay eu não posso culpar completamente os personagens.
Se os atores não conseguem sentir o personagem eles não conseguem atuar direito, isso torna uma tarefa difícil para os espectadores também sentirem os personagens e foi exatamente isso que aconteceu o filme inteiro! Eu não consegui sentir parte das emoções de alguns personagens e a história desta continuação pedia muita emoção. Eu adoro a Zoe Kravitz mas ela foi a escolha errada para viver a Leta (talvez por isso eu não tenha gostado tanto desta Lestrange) e eu ainda me pergunto o que raios Ezra Miller está fazendo nesta saga. Possivelmente a WB ou a JK virá bater na minha porta e me chutar se eu disser mais coisas ruins da atuação então vamos mudar um pouco o foco para algo bom nisso.
Johnny Deep! ANTES DE VOCÊ ME BATER, qual é, precisamos concordar que esse cara é um bom ator e Grindelwald é completamente diferente dos seus últimos personagens (apesar de às vezes ainda manter os trejeitos do Cap. Jack Sparrow) e okay a maquiagem ferrou um pouco mas ainda assim a atuação foi maravilhosa. Outra aparição impecável foi a de Jude Law, esse veterano destruiu minhas estruturas como Dumbledore e alcançou meus sentimentos em todas as cenas sobre a relação Dumbledore x Grindelwald. Ele honrou Richard Harris e Michael Gambon como o jovem Alvo. Eddie Redmayne também cresceu como Scamander, ele finalmente está entendendo o personagem, graças a Merlim… Quer dizer, o Newt é legal quando não está correndo atrás da Tina ou da Leta.
EU JÁ IA ESQUECENDO! Eu realmente preciso frisar a participação de Poppy Corby-Tuech! Ela é simplesmente magnífica e apesar de suas cenas serem curtas ela mandou muito bem em Crimes de Grindelwald.
Além da atuação, a imagem e continuação de cenas tiveram problemas também. O CGI era claramente um CGI, nós sabemos que a Warner pode e tem recursos para fazer melhor que isso. Iluminação bem dark no início, nada menos que o esperado porque os filmes de Harry Potter na maior parte das vezes tem uma iluminação parecida… Mas eu acho que dessa vez foi escura demais pois ao invés disso dar um ar de mistério ou suspense, deixou as coisas ainda mais confusas. Os problemas de continuação foram falhas épicas, quando por exemplo está aquele sol com céu de brigadeiro e no segundo seguinte está caindo um dilúvio, ou quando alguém diz que está chovendo pra caramba mas no corte que mostra a rua ela está completamente seca.
O filme é bastante divertido mas uma andorinha só não faz verão. Má atuação, falhas no roteiro, falta de detalhes importantes e a perda da históra central no meio do caminho são, infelizmente, as coisas mais memoráveis deste segundo filme de Animais Fantásticos onde apenas o final realmente valeu a pena.
Queenie eu te adoro. Voldemort não é nada comparado com o Grindelwald – que discurso! JK e Warner por favor não me odeiem pra sempre. Vem filme no Brasil!!!

Crimes of Grindelwald is set a few months after the first movie. Newt is grounded in England because of his tiny mess in New York. While this Grindelwald conquers his freedom (in absolutely nonsamaritan ways) and starts to get some followers. Albus (yes, the Dumbledore) ask Newt a favor – we know what kind of – and give resources to break more rules, typical. Dumbledore being Dumbledore nothing new here. Of course Tina, Queenie and Jacob will join but here’s an advice for free: Bring some scarves you may cry (not exactly from sadness). Now, let’s go to Paris!
As said, we have the comeback of all main characters and we meet some new like Leta Lestrange and Theseus Scamander. Bad thing is some of them we don’t have good explanations about the life before, even the old characters, this movie tells just superficial things, but this is something I’ll go back later. In this movie we go to France, following the steps of an old character, Credence, now with another really really old, Nagini. Yeah and they are in a species of freak show circus for wizards. But they have, again, the same problem I said before, zero explanations! This entire movie was like “hold this character, I may tell more about him/she later… Or not.”. In some point I started to ask myself why some people were in this movie! Okay I can’t totally blame the characters…
If the actor/actress can’t feel the character they don’t act perfectly and this make quite hard to us feel them too and that was what happened this whole movie! I couldn’t feel most part of the emotions from a few characters and the story of this sequel asked for so much emotion! I love Zoe Kravitz but she was the wrong choice for Leta (maybe that’s why I didn’t liked this Lestrange) and I’m still asking myself what the hell Ezra Miller is doing here! Possibly WB or JK will knock my door and kick me if I say more bad things about the acting so let’s talk about good things.
Johnny Depp! BEFORE YOU HIT ME, come on we all have to agree this guy is a good actor and Grindelwald was completely different of his last characters, okay the makeup fucked a little but the acting was awesome. Another incredible guy in this movie was Judy Law, this veteran broke all my structures as Dumbledore and reached my feelings in every scene about Dumbledore x Grindelwald relation. He honored Richard Harris and Michael Gambon as the young Albus. Eddie Redmayne also grew with Scamander, he is finally understanding the character thank Merlin… Well Newt is nice when he’s not chasing after Tina or Leta.
OH I WAS ABOUT TO FORGET! I really need to praise Poppy Corby-Tuech! She is simply amazing and in Crimes of Grindelwald she was espetacular!!
Beside the acting, the image and cuts were problems too. The GCI were clearly a GCI and we know WB can and have ressources to do better than that. Dark lights at the beginning, nothing less than the expect because Harry Potter movie most of times had this dark lights but I’m not sure about this time, was too dark and this can make things even more confuse. Scene continuation issues are also present here, when one time is sun af and the other second is raining cats and dogs, or when someone say is actually raining that much but the streets are completely dry.
This movie is very funny but jokes are not enough to make a good show or some very cute creatures. Bad acting, script huge fails, lack of important details and main story lost on the way are unfortunately the most memorable things about this second movie of Fantastic Beasts where only the end was really worth it. All I can do is wait for the next movie to be better.
Queenie I love you. Voldemort is nothing compared to Grindelwald – what a speech! JK and Warner please don’t hate me forever. Come to Brazil babes!
